Seminar: Mediation Competencies for Conflict Management

Objective of the Seminar-Training:

The aim of this seminar is to train participants in the fundamentals of mediation for use in professional and everyday situations. The course will provide knowledge of the core principles, procedures, and tools of mediation, enabling participants to conduct effective negotiations and constructively resolve disputes. It is also designed to expand professional competencies by incorporating mediation skills into negotiation and conflict resolution practices.

During the training, participants will explore the theoretical foundations of the mediation process, the nature of conflicts, and methods for their prevention. They will also analyze practical business cases from real-world conflict management and acquire practical skills in dispute resolution through mediation techniques.

Format and Training Methods:

• Theoretical input with active discussion and open debate

• Analysis and discussion of practical case studies

• Business games and simulations in small and large groups to develop and reinforce skills

• Use of presentations, audio and video materials, and printed handouts

• Homework assignments to strengthen practical application

• Brainstorming sessions, feedback, evaluation, and discussion

Duration:

24 academic hours (3 full days)

Sessions are held daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with coffee and lunch breaks included.

Languages of Instruction:

The training is conducted in both Kazakh and Russian languages.

The seminar is conducted by Zhakyupov Zhandilda Azhigaliyevich, an internationally certified mediator, Head of the Mediation Center at the NGO International Human Rights Center, and CEO of the Association of Mediators of Kazakhstan.
